Sketching With Lower Prep

Image
Lower prep kick-started their enrichment programme this term with a sketching club.  They have been working on adding texture and shade to their drawings.  This afternoon, the children applied the skills they have learned to pictures of apples ready for our gallery outside the form room.  They all worked incredibly hard and I am very pleased with the results!

Roman Numerals in Year 4 Mathematics

Image
Year 4 have been learning the Roman Numerals up to 20  over the last few days.  They are working hard on explaining the important rules for how to make up the numbers and showing what they know using lollipop sticks.

100 Time Challenge

Image
Lower Prep have made an excellent start to their new IPC topic 'Time and Place, Earth and Space'.  Children have started to bring in items for our '100 Time Challenge' display. Annie brought in projector slides showing the Earth from space and NASA rockets taking off.  She also brought a game to practise telling the time and a toy rocket. Sidney showed us his light-up globe, explaining where the UK was and how to find information such as the population of the world. Roxi has brought in a range of information texts about our topic. Eddie shared a fossil that he found on Slatburn beach.  We all wondered just how old it might be! Evie brought in some photographs and information about an 800-year-old coin that was found in her field by a treasure hunter!  Flo has shared a super information book about space!

Toad Rescue

Image
Lower Prep completed an unexpected rescue mission this morning when they found a tiny toad outside of the Prep School.  Our caring boys and girls wanted to make sure the toad was safe, so we relocated it to the beck that runs behind the senior school building!

What a great first day!

Lots to do today!  Here are some snaps of the children making their bookmarks containing their school log on details and also a socially distanced music lesson. We all agreed that it was great to be back in class!
